Overview:

This 10-day safari offers an immersive journey through Kenya’s most iconic and diverse destinations. Beginning in Nairobi, the country’s vibrant capital, the adventure takes you north to the rugged wilderness of Samburu, home to rare species found only in northern Kenya. You will then explore Ol Pejeta Conservancy, famous for its rhino sanctuary and chimpanzee haven, before continuing to Lake Nakuru, known for its rhino populations and flocks of flamingos.

From there, the itinerary leads you to the world-renowned Masai Mara, with its breathtaking savannah landscapes and rich wildlife, before slowing the pace at the tranquil Lake Naivasha with its unique ecosystem.

The journey concludes in Amboseli National Park, where you can watch elephants roam against the majestic backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. Across the 10 days, you will enjoy varied game viewing, cultural encounters, and spectacular scenery while staying in carefully selected lodges and camps that complement the safari experience.

Itinerary Detail

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your driver-guide and transferred to your Nairobi hotel. Depending on the time of arrival, you may opt to enjoy an excursion to notable attractions such as the Giraffe Centre, David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, or Karen Blixen Museum. Dinner and overnight will be at your Nairobi hotel as you prepare for the adventures ahead.

After breakfast, depart Nairobi and journey northwards across the equator, traveling through the picturesque landscapes of Kenya’s highlands before descending into the semi-arid wilderness of Samburu National Reserve. Arrive in time for lunch and later set out for an afternoon game drive. Samburu is renowned for its distinctive wildlife species collectively known as the “Samburu Special Five,” which include the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge or camp in Samburu

Spend a full day exploring Samburu with both morning and afternoon game drives. The Ewaso Nyiro River, which flows through the reserve, attracts elephants, crocodiles, and big cats such as lions and leopards. The reserve’s scenic beauty combined with its rare species and rich birdlife makes Samburu a truly special destination. Return to your lodge or camp in the evening for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, depart Samburu and drive south to Nanyuki, arriving at Ol Pejeta Conservancy in time for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive across the conservancy which is home to East Africa’s largest black rhino population, the last two remaining northern white rhinosworld, and the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary. The conservancy is also a haven for the Big Five, making it a prime safari destination. Dinner and overnight will be at Ol Pejeta.

After breakfast, depart for Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving in time for lunch at your lodge. In the afternoon, explore the park on a game drive. Lake Nakuru is famous for its rhino sanctuary, large herds of buffalo, tree-climbing lions, Rothschild’s giraffes, and diverse birdlife, including flamingos and pelicans that often dot the lake’s shoreline. Dinner and overnight will be at a lodge near the park.

After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive across the Great Rift Valley into the world-famous Masai Mara. You will arrive at your lodge or camp in time for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy your first game drive in the Mara, a reserve celebrated for its extraordinary density of wildlife including lions, elephants, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas. Dinner and overnight will be at your camp or lodge in Masai Mara.

Spend the day exploring the vast savannahs of the Masai Mara on game drives. Depending on the season, you may witness the great wildebeest migration, one of the most spectacular wildlife events on earth. Even outside of migration season, the Mara offers excellent opportunities to observe predators in action, large elephant herds, and countless grazing species. A picnic lunch can be enjoyed inside the reserve to maximize game viewing. Dinner and overnight at your camp or lodge.

After breakfast, depart the Masai Mara and drive to Lake Naivasha, a serene freshwater lake in the Rift Valley. Arrive in time for lunch at your lodge, followed by an afternoon boat ride on the lake to view hippos, waterbirds, and the scenic Crescent Island. Optional activities include cycling or hiking at Hell’s Gate National Park. Dinner and overnight will be at Lake Naivasha.

After breakfast, journey southwards to Amboseli National Park, arriving in time for lunch at your lodge or camp. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive across the park’s open plains, famous for its large elephant herds and the iconic backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. Dinner and overnight will be at Amboseli.

Begin the day with an early morning game drive, when the skies are usually clear and Mount Kilimanjaro offers its most breathtaking views. After breakfast, check out and depart for Nairobi. Arrive in the afternoon and, depending on your onward flight schedule, transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for departure, marking the end of your unforgettable 10-day safari adventure.
